Swimmers and Swim Families:

In order for the Seymour Swim Club to be successful, we need volunteers!  Parents please understand that if your child is a swimmer, your family is a “swim club family” and a volunteer commitment is required.  Parents/family members are expected to participate in working at HOME swim meets as well as in volunteering/supporting the club with fundraising efforts/events/activities.

Sign-up sheets for this seasons HOME meets are posted on the bulletin board inside the pool entrance. We are looking for parents to sign up to be:

Timers: Sixteen volunteers are needed to time each home meet.  The timer’s job is the backup to the timing system.  The times off the stop watches are recorded on paper for each event. This job is very simple and gives you the best seat in the house for every event.

Runner: One volunteer is needed to pick up the slips of paper from the timers and turn them in to the scoring table.  This job is very simple.

Seeding:  One volunteer lines up the swimmer according to events so that the meet runs smoothly.

Scoring/Meet Manager:  One or Two volunteers are needed to run the computer software that records the times for each swimmer/event.  This job does require some training.

Concession Stand:  Two volunteers are needed to run a basic concession stand selling heat sheets, candy bars, water, club apparel, etc.)

Well, school has started and now it is time for the fall season to start as well.  See the attached document that will give you some heads up as to what is currently happening.  Save the date because 0n Saturday, Sept. 17th  from 9:00-11:00 am, there will be a swim clinic for all members and anyone else interested in joining the club to learn swim strokes, turns and starts.  The HS girls team will help out at each station.

Summer is coming and going quickly

Written by Sarah Tracy
July 26th, 2011

I hope all is having a great summer.  My summer has been nice.  But I will soon be back in Wisconsin and ready to cook some burgers.  As I looked at the calendar and saw who signed up for what, first I would like to thank those that help make this club work.  Without the volunteers, there would be no club.  However, we still need more help.  We need to try to get HS swimmers to help out and get more families to volunteer and share the wealth of giving back to the club and our community.  I will still need more help with burgers in the am and well as lunch times.  Please check out the volunteer list attached here.

If you do have questions, feel free to ask here.

Also note, that on the volunteer list are some (still have to check with AD) of the Girls’ High School Home swim meets.  Remember, the club must fill most of the worker slots.  The High School parents will help as well, but some are one and the same, having HS girls and younger swimmers as well.  It would be wonderful for swimmers and parents alike to help out the HS team making another smooth operation of running the HS meets.

Summer 2011 is here

The summer swim club session is about to start.  Please check out the calendar for practice times and meets.  Updates will be made on calendar and website, so if you have questions, make sure you ask Kent (club president) or the coaches.

Since Sarah is taking the summer off to take care of her Army obligations, there are two new coaches this summer.  Jennifer and Kristi.  Both swam for the Seymour High School team.  Both are familiar with the club and were coached by Coach Sarah.

Please note that we will need volunteers to host home meets and organize and run various fundraisers this summer and fall.  Even if your swimmers can not swim this summer due to other commitments, volunteers are still needed.  Comment on this posting after looking at what volunteers are needed.  We will update the listing as soon as we get the volunteers.
