Additional Fundraising Opportunities this summer

Written by Sarah Tracy
August 9th, 2010

Mr. Zahn just asked me if we are available to work some HS soccer games?  Aug. 24th, 26th, and 28th.  The games would be from 4:30-6:30pm.  We would need maybe 1-2 adults with a handful of kids.  We can sell icecream, soda, gatorade, water, candy bars, popcorn.. We do not need much more than that.  This is a great opportunity for our club to make some easy money and publicize the club as well.  Please let me know if you can volunteer for these games?

Mandatory volunteering

CHANGES ARE HERE.  DUE THE MARINETTE HAVING POOL ISSUES, THEY CAN NOT HOST THE MEETS THEY HAD SCHEDULED.  WE HAVE PICKED UP TWO ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL HOME MEETS.  ONE BEING CONFERENCE.  WE WILL NEED AS MANY IF NOT ALL PARENTS TO HELP OUT WITH THESE MEETS.  PLEASE LOOK BELOW TO THE ADDED MEETS.

Here is a list of volunteering opportunities. Remember, as members, both swimmers and parents/guardians, grandparents/ responsible adults, we need help with our fund raising and running home meets/events.  Right now, each swimmer and their parents need to volunteer to at least one meet and 2 additional fund raising activities. Now, this is a minimum.  As you will see, if everyone does only the minimum, we will still not be able to cover all events.  If you sign up, you will be expected to be there.  If things come up and you can no longer work the event you volunteered for, then You must find your replacement.  If we can not find enough workers for events, we will start assigning people to events.

Within this message*, you will be able to add your responses.  Please let me know what dates you can help out, how much time, and make sure you sign your name and how many people within your family will be there to help.  If you have any additional questions, please make sure you ask.  THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP!

Thursday, August 12- (1-8:30pm) ice cream fund raiser. 1-3 adults/hr.

Tuesday, September 7- (4-8pm) HS home swim meet. 10-20 adults.

Thursday, September 16- (5:30-8:30) HS home swim meet. 10-20 adults. (youth night).

Thursday, September 30 (5:30-8:30) HS home swim meet. 10-20 adults. (parents’ night).

Burger Fest Float

Written by Sarah Tracy
July 28th, 2010

We will be building the float and Brian and Jo Krueger’s (N8568 Woodland Dr, Seymour).  Tues-Wed (Aug 3-4).  Tuesday at 3:30-5:30.  And Wednesday after 5:30pm until complete.  Bring your supplies, ideas, and hard workers!

Remember the theme is Burgers gone wild…

One idea was having  the kids dress up or having a whole bunch of wild animals on the float swimming…

End of Summer reminders

Written by Sarah Tracy
July 26th, 2010

End of summer is just around the corner.  As a reminder, we have ice cream sales coming up on the 29th of July.  Those that signed up, please make sure you are there.

The burger fest parade is just around the corner.  First of all, we are still looking for more volunteers to help out with the burger fry fundraiser (at Don’s) on Aug. 5th and 6th.  As soon as I get the dates and times for when we are building our float, I will post it here.  The more the merrier.  Even if you have not swum this summer, you can still participate in building the float and riding on it.

Remember to attend our end of summer picnic (Aug 10th, at 5pm). It will be located in the Community Classroom, across the hall from the fitness center.

Thanks to all those that participated this summer.  I know it has been a hectic one for most.

NEW TIMING SYSTEM FOR AQUATIC CENTER

Written by Sarah Tracy
June 14th, 2010

The Seymour Community School District has approved the purchase of a new timing system.  In passing this purchase, the swim club and Girls’ High School swim and dive team must pitch in a little of their time in helping the district pay for the new timing system.  The District has approved the purchase with both the swim club parents/adults and High School parent/adults pitch in by running the home High School swim meets.  Normally, the High School pays staff members to time and score the meet.  For the next few years, the money allocated to pay for staff members will now be allocated to purchasing the timing system.  Therefore, the swim club and swim team must come up with personnel to run the home high school meets.  As swim club parents/fans, we need to volunteer our time as well, because if we want to use the timing system, we need to do our part in saving the district money.  If you have questions about this, please ask myself or Mr. Zahn…. Thanks again for all those that helped with any and all fund raisers.  The money raised will be utilized for upgrades to the new system and well as future purchases for the timing system.

Summer Season is Here!!

Written by Sarah Tracy
June 13th, 2010

The summer season is ready to begin.  Please check out our schedule located here on our website.  The practice times are available.  Due to the fact that we do have a meet the first week of practice, we will need parent volunteers to work the meet as soon as possible.  If you know that you can work, please contact Coach Sarah, Lynn Klawiter or Kent Abel as soon as possible.  Let’s start this summer on a great note.

The plant sale went well.  Thanks for those that worked the sale and thanks for those the bought plants.

There are some changes to the calendar.  All Friday practices are cancelled.  I need a break.  At the parent meetings either on June 15th or June 17th, we will discuss practice times.  Instead of offering 8 sessions a week (two times each day, Mon-thurs) we will look at offering less during the week.  It’s hard for Sean or myself to come in every day for only 4 swimmers every session.

Again, I need to know who can and can not attend the first meet on Sat. June 19th.  It is a home meet.  All those attending, I am sure we will need everyone to volunteer to help run the meet.

The Swim Club is hosting an Annuals, Perennials, Shrubs, and Tree Sale, this Friday and Saturday, May 21st and May 22nd.

All proceeds will benefit the Seymour Community Swim Club.

The Sale is on the corner of HWY 54 and Maple St in Black Creek.  Watch for the signs.

The sale is open exclusively to swim club members on Thursday, May 20 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
